My stomach tightened.

She reached for both of my hands.
“Something about Noah.”
She paused.
“And something about me.”
I stared at her.
Her eyes suddenly filled with tears.
“Mom, what happened?”

Then she took a shaky breath.
“There’s something I should have told you years ago.”
My heart began pounding.
