No law enforcement authority.
No police commission.
No reason whatsoever to be watching my porch.
The next afternoon, I walked outside while he was parked across the street.
I stayed on my property.
Darren lowered the window.
“Can I help you?”
“You’re the one parked outside my house.”
“HOA patrol.”
“Why?”
“Routine.”
“You’ve been here four nights.”
He shrugged.
“Neighborhood security.”
“What are you looking for?”
“Nothing.”
“Then keep moving.”
His face changed.
Not anger exactly.
Annoyance.
“I go where the association assigns me.”
“Good. Tell them you saw the house.”
I walked back inside.
The SUV left five minutes later.
That night I sent another email.
This one went to the entire board.
I documented the repeated surveillance.
I requested that any monitoring of my property cease unless there was a legitimate security concern.
The board president, Charles Wynn, replied first.
Arthur,
I was not aware security had been assigned specifically to your property. I will look into this.
