A Fake HOA Cop Pointed a Gun at Me for Refusing to Hand Over My House Key—Then His HOA Boss Realized They Had Targeted a U.S. Army Veteran

Other officers moved toward Darren.

Tourniquets.

Medical bags.

Commands.

Radios.

A medic vehicle arrived moments later.

I watched everything from the curb.

My body started shaking.

Not dramatically.

Small tremors.

Adrenaline leaving.

An officer approached.

“Sir, are you Arthur Vance?”

“Yes.”

“Any weapons on you?”

“No.”

“Hands behind your back for now.”

“I understand.”

He handcuffed me.

I expected that.

Someone had been shot twice.

Police did not know me.

They knew a man was bleeding and a firearm had been used.

I would have been more concerned if they treated the scene casually.

They checked me.

No weapon.

Then one officer asked what happened.

“I was threatened with a gun.”

“Who fired first?”

“He did.”

“Where?”

I pointed toward the porch beam.

“You’ll find the impact.”

The officer looked.

Another officer called out.

“Got it.”

That mattered.

Then I remembered the camera.

“Doorbell footage.”

“What?”

“My camera recorded everything.”
