When the refrigerator was almost empty, she reassured them that she would find a solution.
When winter arrived, she checked their blankets before worrying about her own comfort.
When one child became ill, she remained awake through the night, offering comfort while silently calculating whether she could afford to miss work the following day.
She was not a perfect mother.
There were moments when she became frustrated.
