For years, I never found that strange.
Until one month ago.
My former doctor called and told me about an experimental laser treatment. He said a place had become available in a clinical program.
There was no guarantee it would work.
But I agreed to try it.
Daniel was not happy when he heard the news.
He remained silent for a long time before telling me that I should not torture myself with false hope. That same evening, he announced that he would be leaving on a week-long business trip.
The surgery was performed while he was away.
On the first day, I could only distinguish light.
On the second day, I could see the shape of the window.
On the third day, I could see my doctor’s face.
I cried so hard that the nurse had to put her arms around me.
I returned home two days before Daniel was due back.
