“I Am 78 Years Old, and My Son Told Me, ‘If You Don’t Leave Me Your Entire Fortune, I’ll Put You in a Nursing Home and Make Sure You Never See Your Grandchildren Again.’ I Thought He Was Just Trying to Scare Me. But the Next Morning, He Arrived at My House With Two Strangers. When I Found Out Why They Were There, I Did Something That Left My Son Trembling…”

I told him that rebuilding our relationship would take time.

He would need to be honest, respect my boundaries, and accept that my money was mine to manage.

And every Sunday, my grandchildren come for lunch.

Last week, Emily asked me something that brought tears to my eyes.

“Grandpa, why do grown-ups sometimes hurt people they love?”

“Sometimes people become so afraid of losing what they want that they forget what they already have.”

She hugged me.

“Well, I don’t want your money, Grandpa. I just want you.”
