My mind immediately went to the worst possible explanation.
What if she had put something into my creams?
The doctor explained that severe skin inflammation could have many causes and that an examination alone couldn’t prove someone had interfered with my products. She advised me to temporarily stop using certain potentially irritating products and carefully follow the new treatment plan.
Still, I couldn’t shake my suspicions.
Another two weeks passed.
One Tuesday, my mother asked me to accompany her to a pharmacy near the hospital. While I was waiting in the car, I noticed a familiar woman.
It was Martha.
She came out of a small building next to the hospital, carrying a paper bag.
An elderly woman with a cane was walking beside her.
Martha helped the woman into a car, then returned to the building.
Her behavior seemed strange.
The following Tuesday, I went back.
This time, I watched my mother-in-law enter the same building. There was a sign above the entrance.
