“This child has a bigger heart than many adults.”
“Daniel taught us how to be human.”
But the biggest surprise was still ahead.
A major publishing house called us.
They wanted to turn Daniel’s notebook into a book.
I thought he would be afraid.
But he looked at me with his small, tired eyes and said:
“Mom, if my story helps even one child feel less alone, then let them read it.”
The book was published one year later.
Its title was:
I Am Not My Face
On the day of the book presentation, the hall was full.
Even some of the children who had mocked Daniel for years were sitting in the front rows.
Daniel slowly climbed onto the stage.
He was still small and thin, with the same wrinkles on his face.
But when he began to speak, the entire hall fell silent.
“When I was little, I thought people didn’t love me because I was different. Then I understood—the problem wasn’t my face. The problem was that some hearts had not yet learned to see beyond it.”
