A few weeks ago, my daughter Emily suddenly became very sick. Her fever wouldn’t go down and only kept getting higher.

My husband and I called an ambulance.

She was rushed to the hospital.

The doctors ran test after test, trying to figure out what was happening to her.

Then, suddenly, they transferred Emily to the intensive care unit.

I begged to go with her, but they wouldn’t let me in.

A few minutes later, a doctor came out.

He said Emily didn’t survive.

My heart shattered.

My husband stood there, pale as a ghost.
