The man’s face grew serious.
“Because Michael didn’t come here just to talk about being his son. He discovered something else.”
At that very moment, we heard a car approaching in the distance.
Daniel gently took my arm.
“Come with me. You need to see this for yourself.”
We walked toward a small wooden cabin at the edge of the forest.
Our car was parked outside.
But Robert wasn’t alone.
Standing in front of him was a man around forty-five years old.
The same blue eyes.
The same facial features.
Even the same smile.
I knew immediately that he was Michael.
But as we approached, I heard him speaking.
“You still haven’t told her?”
Robert stood with his head lowered.
“I can’t.”
“Hasn’t forty-five years been long enough?”
At that moment, Robert noticed me.
His face went completely pale.
“Margaret…”
I stepped closer.
“Tell me the truth, Robert. Have you been lying to me our entire marriage?”
