I watched his eyes move across the screen.
Then he looked at me.
“What did you do?”
I took a sip of wine.
“I posted our vacation picture.”
His jaw tightened.
“You went through my phone?”
Interesting.
Not “Why would you post that?”
Not “What picture?”
He already knew exactly why it mattered.
“I thought husbands normally liked showing pictures of their wives.”
“Delete it.”
His voice was barely above a whisper.
“No.”
“Emma.”
His phone started ringing.
He stared at the screen.
I couldn’t see the name from where I sat.
But I didn’t need to.
“Answer it,” I said.
He declined the call.
This time, I leaned back.
“She seems persistent.”
Daniel stared at me.
“How much did you see?”
“Enough.”
He closed his eyes.
“Emma, I can explain.”
