My wife left me with our seven children and ran off with our wealthy neighbor. Ten years later, she returned on our youngest daughter’s birthday, but when my daughter showed her what she had been keeping on her phone, our family was never the same again…

“Where’s Mommy?” the little girl asked.

“Mommy’s gone, but we’re here. I’ll never leave you alone,” Jake answered.

Then the other children appeared.

Ben was trying to warm some milk for the little one. Kate was wiping away her tears, while our youngest boy sat on the couch, clutching the scarf his mother had left behind.

Linda covered her mouth with her hand.

“Turn it off, please.”

“It’s not over yet, Mom.”

The video changed.

Now our kitchen appeared on the screen, several years later.

I was sitting at the table in my work clothes, asleep from exhaustion.

Jake’s voice could be heard.

“Dad thinks we don’t notice how tired he is. But we see everything.”

In the next clips, the children were preparing dinner together. Then they were making me a birthday cake out of ordinary cookies and whipped cream.

The years passed across the screen.
