My name is Emily. I’m thirty-two years old, and my husband, Michael, is thirty-six.
Five months ago, our triplets were born — Ethan, Sophie, and Noah.
Their birth was the happiest day of my life.
At least, that’s what I believed at the time.
Throughout my pregnancy, Michael constantly told everyone that he was going to be the happiest father in the world.
But after our babies arrived, something changed.
At night, when the babies cried, he simply rolled over and went back to sleep.
Whenever I asked for help, he would say:
“I work all day. You’re home. Taking care of them is your job.”
And I stayed silent.
Until the morning I slipped on the stairs and broke my leg.
The doctor warned me that I needed to avoid putting weight on my injured leg for several weeks.
“I have three five-month-old babies,” I explained.
He looked at me with genuine concern.
