Cold and warm compress
A cold pack on the forehead or back of the neck numbs pain and reduces inflammation – most effective for migraines.
In contrast, a warm compress on the neck and shoulders relaxes tight muscles – most effective for tension headaches. Apply for 15-20 minutes.
Quick tip: Drink a large glass of water immediately. Dehydration is responsible for a significant percentage of headaches. Moreover, most people notice improvement within 20-30 minutes of rehydrating.
Ginger and peppermint tea
Ginger reduces inflammation and blocks pain pathways. Peppermint contains menthol which relaxes muscles and increases blood flow. Together they are one of the most effective natural headache remedies available.
Steep fresh ginger in hot water for 5 minutes. Additionally, add a peppermint tea bag or a few drops of peppermint oil and drink slowly.
