He was just ten years old when his father passed away.
I worked double shifts, sometimes even on weekends, to make sure my son never went without anything.
Jake had always been a good boy. He never lied to me, never raised his voice, and every evening when he came home, the first thing he did was give me a hug.
But three months ago, everything changed.
He started coming home late, having secret phone conversations, and immediately hanging up whenever I entered the room.
One Sunday morning, he said:
“Mom, I want to introduce you to someone today. Please, don’t judge her at first sight.”
I smiled.
I thought my son had finally fallen in love.
But when the door opened, I froze.
Standing beside Jake was a blonde woman who looked about my age, perhaps even older.
She was smiling and holding my son’s hand tightly.
