The bus driver was sitting beside me.
“We still haven’t found your husband. But we’ve contacted the police.”
I began to cry.
At that very moment, my phone rang.
It was an unknown number.
“Margaret?” a woman’s voice asked.
“Who is this?”
“I’m the woman your husband left with.”
My hands began trembling.

“How long have you been involved with my husband?”
There was a long silence.
Then she said something that made my blood run cold.
“Longer than you could possibly imagine. But believe me, he has never been unfaithful to you.”
“Then why did he give you his wedding ring?”
“Because that ring is connected to a secret he’s carried for sixty-one years.”
I could barely speak.
“What secret?”
“Come to the old St. Mary’s Hospital. There’s someone you need to meet.”
The call ended.
I asked the driver to help me get there, and he kindly agreed.
