When we arrived at the hospital, the same woman from the video was waiting near the entrance.
“My name is Susan,” she said.
I refused to shake her hand.
“Where is my husband?”
Without answering, she led me to the second floor.
Robert was sitting in the hallway.
The moment he saw me, he jumped to his feet.
“Margaret! Thank God you’re here!”
“Don’t come near me! I saw everything!”
He lowered his head.
“I know. And you have every right to be angry. But please, listen to me first.”
Just then, Susan placed an old photograph in my hands.
I looked down.
And my entire body went numb.
The photograph showed me.
Young, lying in a hospital bed.
Beside me stood Robert, holding a tiny newborn baby.

The picture was sixty-one years old.
A few months after our wedding, I had given birth to a little girl.
