My hands turned cold as I unfolded the paper and read it:
“The flash drive contains security footage from the day Emily died. Please watch it if you want to know WHAT really happened. DON’T TRUST YOUR HUSBAND.”
My heart pounded.
I waited until my husband fell asleep.
Then I took out my laptop and plugged in the flash drive.
There really was hospital footage from the DAY Emily died.
I pressed play.
MY BLOOD RAN COLD WHEN I SAW WHAT WAS ACTUALLY HAPPENING.
THE CONTINUATION OF THE STORY
At first, the footage showed an ordinary hospital hallway.
Then, at 2:47 p.m., I saw my husband, Daniel.
He was standing outside the intensive care unit, talking to a woman in a white coat.
I froze.
Daniel had told me he never left the waiting room.
But the video showed him handing the woman a thick envelope. She gave him a document, which he immediately signed.
